Helping People Avoid Spine Surgery
Our Goal is Simple: To help as many people as possible avoid spine surgery.

The ProMed Approach

An Innovative Non-Surgical Approach For Back or Neck Pain, Disc Pain, and Sciatica

"One of the best decisions I have ever made! It's wonderful to know that there is a treatment available that heals disc problems without surgery! That is revolutionary! I'm grateful every day for the ability to be able to take care of myself and walk and sit again. God bless you!" - Lynn Mot

Surgery or Injections Are Risky & Dangerous

FDA DRUG SAFETY COMMUNICATION

In a recent FDA Drug Safety Communication, the FDA is requiring label changes to reflect possible serious neurological problems after Epidural Corticosteroid injections for pain.

  • FACT: Corticosteroids injections (the #1 medical treatment for disc conditions, performed 9 million times per year in the U.S.) are NOT APPROVED by FDA for injection of the spine.
  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The effectiveness and safety of these spinal injections have not been established, and the FDA has not approved them for use.
  • DATA SUMMARY: Serious adverse events included death, spinal cord infarction, paraplegia, quadriplegia, blindness, stoke, seizures, nerve injury and brain edema. Many patients did not recover from these reported adverse events.

Our Treatment Method Provides for True Healing

The Advanced Disc Restoration Protocol™(ADR) was developed by Dr. George Papadopoulos, D.C., ATC/L, RKT and has proven success with countless numbers of patients. This conservative approach to disc restoration, maintenance, and support offers tremendous advantages for both patients and practitioners. Advanced Disc Restoration™ is a combination of treatments that harness the spinal disc's natural ability to heal itself by giving it what it needs-water, oxygen and nutrients to create an environment where the disc actually heals and repairs. As one of the many alternatives to surgical intervention and injections, ProMED Pain Rehabilitation Institute believes that this offers a less risky, non-invasive, and much more effective way to treat and repair serious disc conditions.

Herniated DiscWhat Is the Problem in My Spine?

The spinal disc is the cushion between the bones in your spine. There is a bone called a vertebrae above the disc and below the disc. At each level there is a pair of spinal nerves that exit between the bones at the level of the disc.

The spinal disc is what allows for flexibility and range of motion in your spine. Another important role of the spinal disc is for shock absorption. The spinal discs are avascular, meaning they do not have a blood supply with circulation. The only way the disc can receive the water, oxygen, and nutrients is by an inherent mechanism within each one of the discs. This mechanism is called "The Pump Mechanism of Disc Nutrition."

As you walk and talk throughout the day the spinal discs are constantly pumping water, oxygen, and nutrients in and out of the discs at each level of the spine. When this pump mechanism fails, what happens? Very similar to when there is decreased circulation in any type of tissue, whether it's animal tissue, plant tissue or human tissue, it begins to die and become weak.

In your spine when the pump mechanism fails (for example L4/L5 disc) the disc will begin to degenerate and become weak. The weakness causes the disc to begin to bulge and then eventually herniate. The herniation can cause even more severe conditions and symptoms such as spinal stenosis, facet arthropathy, sciatica etc. When that specific level does not heal and repair, the disc above and below the herniated disc level will begin to fail as well. This is because those discs are now having to take on the weight and shock from the failed disc. So it is doing the job of two discs. This is when it is classified as degenerative disc disease.

Advanced Disc Restoration Protocol™ - Real Treatment. Real Results. Backed By Science.undefined

The main component of the ADR Protocol™ utilizes highly specialized medical technology that allows negative pressure to be built up inside the disc. This negative pressure allows the water, oxygen, and nutrients to be pulled back inside allowing the disc to heal and repair. According to a study published by Dr. Michael D. Martin, M.D. et al. it states, "the disc itself is active tissue that contains significant mechanisms for self-repair." Our entire practice is built around this science-based research. So how do we do this?

How Was It Developed? What is the Science Behind It?

Disc HerniationDr. George Papadopoulos, D.C., ATC/L, RKT developed the ADR Protocol™ based on the research done by Dr. Norman Shealy, Honorary Chairman and former Harvard professor. Our clinically tested and proven technique allows us to specifically pull on the bone above and below the disc in your spine that is unhealthy without drugs, shots or surgery. This repeated cycle, calibrated by our expert via a computerized algorithm overcomes neuromuscular proprioceptive guarding (muscle resistance) allowing a negative pressure up to -160mm Hg inside the disc.

This reversal of pressure or "vacuum effect" allows the disc to be decompressed, similar to a pump. By artificially recreating the pump mechanism that has failed, we can also reposition bulging and herniated discs back into place and take pressure off pinched nerves. Nutrients, oxygen, water and fluids are drawn back into the disc to create a revitalized environment conducive to healing. This allows for cellular repair, which in turn will correct your problem.

What Are the Expected Results?

Although there is no procedure that is 100% successful, to maintain at least a 95% success rate that he does, Dr. Papadopoulos does a thorough examination and evaluation of you and your MRI s first. If you do not have an MRI, they may be ordered to help determine if you are a candidate. All patients are seen by Dr. Papadopoulos personally, and given ample time to discover exactly what the ADR Protocol™ is and why it works. Only those patients that are good candidates are accepted into care. Dr. Papadopoulos' goal is to help as many appropriate cases start care while maintaining the highest level of results and reputation.
